Privacy without the fog.

Grumpy Gourmet is designed around a simple boundary: your kitchen belongs to you. This page explains what the app stores, when Apple services are involved, and the limited occasions when information leaves your device.

01

Who is responsible for the app

Grumpy Gourmet is developed and published by House of Lunsford. This policy covers the Grumpy Gourmet app, grumpygourmet.app, and our related pre-launch sites for Sourdough Queen, Kombucha King, and Grumpy Gardener.

02

Data the app keeps on your device

The app stores the material needed to run your kitchen, including recipes, recipe sources, pantry and grocery items, plans, preferences, notebook entries, cooking history, culture and bake records, and the profile information you choose to provide.

Photos you import or take are stored in the app’s local files. We do not operate a server that receives a copy of this local kitchen data.

03

Optional Apple services

iCloud

If you turn on iCloud sync, supported kitchen records are stored in the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account. House of Lunsford does not receive those records in a separate customer database. Recipe and notebook photo files are currently local-only and are not included in the app’s iCloud sync.

Photos and camera

Access is requested only when you choose to import or take a photo. Text recognition uses Apple’s Vision framework on your device. The app’s current recipe-extraction model also runs through Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework; kitchen content is not sent to a third-party AI provider.

Reminders

If you grant Reminders access, the app can read the lists you select and can add kitchen, shopping, planning, or bake items to Reminders. Imported items are shown for review before they enter the app. Accepted reminders may be marked complete.

Notifications and diagnostics

If you allow notifications, cooking and bake alerts are scheduled locally through Apple’s notification system. The app uses Apple’s MetricKit for technical measures such as launch time, memory use, hangs, and crash counts. Our instrumentation does not attach recipe names, photo contents, or other kitchen content to those measures.

Apple’s handling of iCloud, Photos, Reminders, notifications, diagnostics, and Apple Intelligence is governed by your Apple settings and Apple’s privacy terms.

04

Recipe links and outside websites

When you ask the app to import a recipe from a URL, it contacts that website to retrieve the page and, when available, its recipe image. Like any web request, the site may receive technical information such as your IP address, device connection details, and the requested URL. That site’s privacy policy applies to its handling of the request.

Grumpy Gourmet extracts the recipe for your review and stores the recipe you accept locally. We do not use imported links to build an advertising profile.

05

What House of Lunsford does not do

  • We do not show third-party advertising.
  • We do not sell or rent personal information.
  • We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • We do not require a Grumpy Gourmet username and password.
  • We do not send kitchen content to third-party AI providers.

06

Website visits and email

Our public sites are delivered through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process standard request information—such as IP address, browser information, requested page, time, and security signals—to deliver and protect the sites. We do not place advertising pixels or use the sites to track you across other services.

If you email us for launch news, support, or feedback, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it for the purpose you chose and normal follow-up. Please do not email recipes, photos, or other sensitive kitchen information unless it is necessary for your support request.

07

Your choices and deletion

  • Edit or delete recipes and other records using the controls provided in the app.
  • Change Photos, Camera, Reminders, and Notification permissions in iOS Settings.
  • Turn off iCloud sync in Grumpy Gourmet Settings. Turning sync off stops future app sync; it does not by itself erase data already stored in iCloud.
  • Delete the app to remove its local app data. Data previously synced to iCloud may remain in your iCloud account until you remove it through Apple’s available storage controls.
  • Ask us to delete an email or support record by contacting the address below, subject to records we must reasonably retain for security or legal purposes.

08

Children

Grumpy Gourmet is a general-audience cooking app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a House of Lunsford account because the app does not provide one.

09

Changes to this policy

We will revise this page when the app’s real data practices change. The effective date above will change with it. If a future feature involves a meaningfully different use of data, we will describe that use before presenting the feature as available.
